BIOGRAPHY
In 2007 there was a huge craze where underground mc's where teaming up in pairs and writing tracks about “Skets”, I remember this really well, I knew loads of rappers that were doing it, why? Because of Acer and his friend Kid Kaos. The track was a phenomenon and 4 years later and over 1 million youtube views (combining the original and the live version), the “Skets” track is what put Acer where he is today.
As a kid Acer's sister played a big part in his musical path by pumping out garage at a high volume in their house, which opened up his musical world. After starting out with a set of decks and mixing dance music he decided that dj'in wasn't the way forward for him, he wanted the main stage and the mic and started to write his own lyrics, chilling on the streets or at home with his friends and spitting his bars. Within a short time a group called DSM was formed and before they knew it, they were doing live performances.
DSM got signed by Breaking the Mould Records and started to work on their first mixtape, but this wasn't enough for Acer, he wanted more and set out on a solo career aswell, spitting over bassline rather than the grime that the record label wanted to produce and before long Acer had teamed up with some good producers and started to work on solo tracks and made “shake your bumper” and “ow my days” which gave him his mark as a solo artist.
Acer teamed up with a Drum and Bass Dj, Boosta, and MC TNT and started to do small DnB sets all round the midlands, which grew and they ended up travelling all round the UK doing sets at loads of DnB venues. On top of the DnB scene, DSM started to record more commercial tracks and they started to tour the UK as well to sell out crowds in the thousands, things couldn't be going better for Acer, he has definitely made a stamp in the music scene of today. |
